Clinical Information at the physician's fingertips

EHR connections to the Clinical Health Information Exchange (cHIE) are a critical piece in improving healthcare. The functionality offered by cHIE connections allow clinicians to utilize EHR software to send and receive information to and from the cHIE. This can greatly enhance patient care and workflow in the medical professional's office. A cHIE connection also ensures that your EHR product is able to offer increased value to providers, as well as the latest features in healthcare technology.

A connection to the cHIE involves the exchange of HL7 messages. UHIN offers three ways of connecting to the cHIE: VPN, Web Services, and SFTP.

Connecting to the cHIE is simple

Complete and Submit a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA):
UHIN Bilateral Non-Disclosure Agreement

Fax the completed agreement to (801) 877-693-3071 and/or email it to chie@uhin.org.

Review UHIN's HL7 Standards

As an accredited standards defining organization (SDO) UHIN publishes its standards and makes them available to our members and partners. These documents will be valuable in helping your team understand the syntax and requirements of exchanging data electronically with UHIN members.
